The Plummers 2

I went over to The Plummer's house again today to hang out with the family. Like yesterday, they were just as welcoming and actually fed me. Jamaican grandma cooked delicious chicken wings, cabbage and "real" yams. Not those wannabe yam sweet potatoes that us ignorant Americans sometimes call yams. I walked into the house and she had a single plate sitting on the table with a napkin and fork. She beckoned me to sit and then served me. I ate every bit of it, and it had that warm grandma taste that is really more of a feeling than a taste. It's nice to experience that now since I never got to know my grandmas that well. She wouldn't let me wash my plate when I was done and told me to go sit down and relax. She told me I should go home before dark because it is dangerous to walk home by yourself at night. She didn't realized I drove. So I ended up leaving before dark anyway, and she told me she loved me before I left. I'm pretty sure she's isn't that crazy, she's just a hospitable grandma.Izayah came into the house crying because his friend wouldn't let him try out his bike. Izayah's bike was stolen months earlier.
Here is grandma working away at the sink.

Izayah's mom, Linn, had to sit next to the fence to keep a watch on her kid as he played down the street. Izayah doesn't like to listen to adults, so she can't really trust him. But who can trust a 4 year old?
The family got a kitten from the neighbor when I was there. Basically some guy walked up to the front yard and gave them two kittens. So Emma took the kitten inside to show to her great-grandma. Grandma does like cats, but she is very particular about it. After examining it, she decided it wasn't a Siamese and wanted nothing to do with it.
Grandma leads me outside after I walked in to watch her cook.

So I plan to go back as much as possible. They do this practically every day, and they actually like me (I think). So expect more. I'm still looking for possible angles to make this into a photo story, so let me know if you have any ideas. I'm sure, though, that shooting more will give me some direction.

these are like those jamaican yams you're describing, but for my eyes. if that makes sense. how about approaching it from the "coolest pig tails in the world" angle, cause grandma definitely has some sweet hair style. geez, that kitty framed photo is awesome. you poop.

Babe, you've found the photo story. If you find anything more perfect than this, I'd be surprised. Grandma seems like she should be the center piece. I see her as the roots of the tree, with everyone else as her branches. Something like that for a photo story? Or maybe just go with what andrea said, her braids are pretty stylin'.

All of your pictures kick ass, but for some reason i have to say that i like the feet picture the best. I think those feet have done alot of moving to keep that family glued together over the years. Even though its techinically a detail, i think it says alot about her. Plus its just weet to look at.

What a neat experience...and wonderful pictures. I'm pretty sure that Nena and Mamo are part of all this...or at least smiling down..
