The Plummers 4

I'm working on getting deeper into this story and trying to show grandma's personality. It will definitely take some more time, but here is what I got from tonight. Let me know what works and what doesn't.

Kids with guns...

And one in color cause it's pretty...

Your definitly opening new chapters in the story. Its starting to get deeper and i can understand more of what the environment that grandma lives in is like. Which is important to know what she is like. I think that the introduction of the toy guns is important because of the danger of the possiibility of these kids growing up and possibly having real guns, since there is already a presence of guns in the home. It shows what grandma has to look out for. I think if you ran a picture of grandma looking out over hte neighbor hood or sitting on the porch with a concerned look on her face next to a picture of the kids with guns, that could make the gun picture take on a whole new meaning. Oh, and it that first picture a tilt frame? Nice work.

I'm starting to see it ... its about generations right? she's making sure the kids are raised proper, so now you've established this you can explore the larger family. Kohl makes a good point about what grandma has to watch out for - I like the frame with granddaughter in foreground and grandma watching in the background - that pictures sets it all up

one, five and six are great. all the situations you're showing are nice though because of all the access you're getting into their chaos and harmony, but the three i mentioned are the ones that have the composition and message that speak the most to me. the second one is a little too much of granny's back for me to see the sweaty little shirtless plummer roaming to the right. ooh. and yay for granny smiling in that one photo. and ditto to the deeper framework that kohl mentioned also. i like that a lot.

there's a lot of texture and beauty to this story, nice call. my favorites are one, five and eight. one and five are just fantasticly raw and sing in the moment. eight is more straight forward but intense and extremely telling. my least favs are two and six- foreground bodies overpower. i can see what's going on back there in six, but it's not clear enough and the right side's kinda blah and i think there's got to be gorgeous granny-smiling shots to be had elsewhere.

Thanks for the feedback guys, it's really helpful. Does anyone have any questions? Anything you want to know that I haven't shown you. I have about three weeks to finish it before I leave so anything for me to keep in mind would be good.

questions eh ... well i suppose i'd like to know what influences or motivates this family. is it money, happiness, safety, independence. what means are they using to be successful - do things like music, religion, tv, their neighbors or friends, pop culture help them? who do they want to be ... what are their struggles or accomplishments. stuff like that. tell me what keeps them up at night or what they dream about.

oops. i wrote that i like six, but i totally meant eight. my counting skills are wack. i think i'm still having a little trouble understanding the roles within the house. i love the focus on the grandma because she carries a history with her that defines her family's present existence. you've done a good job at explaining the space they live in, but i want to understand more about the space between them. you already started with that series of photos of granny and granddaughter looking at the clouds. and i love, love, love, love the first photo on the post above. i see a they have a tiny white kitty also. if grandma ever holds that thing, i would love to see her grabbing it with those beautiful hands of hers. sorry if this seems like nonsensical abstractions on my behalf, if anything just listen to bryan, he's like, a real editor.
